How to set up your sheet

Step 1 — Format your spreadsheet

  • Row 1: Your column names (e.g. english, mandarin, pinyin)
  • Row 2: Field names — assign each column a role from the list below. Leave blank to skip.
  • Row 3+: Your card data

Available fields

  • front_primary — main text on the card front
  • front_secondary — smaller text on the front
  • front_tertiary — additional text on the front
  • front_bottom_left — bottom-left label (e.g. lesson number)
  • back_primary — main answer on the card back
  • back_secondary — secondary answer text
  • back_tertiary — additional answer text

Step 2 — Publish as CSV

  1. File → Share → Publish to web
  2. Select your tab → choose CSV format
  3. Click Publish and copy the link
  4. Paste it into the field in the menu
