Emily Bei Cheng

Hi, I’m Emily Bei Cheng, an artist and engineer based in San Francisco. I explore life at photo pace and share what I find through words and images. My stories tend to start in unlikely places: a bivvy on a mountain summit, a mural in the Paris Catacombs, a wrong turn in the Gates of the Arctic. I became ultra-curious in 2025 and I wrote about my experience in my essay reflecting on the 2025 Japanese Odyssey. I love exploring places, but I’m equally curious about people, and I’m happiest when I’m getting to know what makes someone tick.

One of my goals is to create new routes for the bikepacking community. Here are a few route and story selects:
The Iceland Fjallabak Track
Bay Area Triple Crossover
Echo-Titus Circuit
National Geographic contributing photographer
2023 Bikepacking Awards: Best Route and Collective’s Choice
2021 Bikepacking Awards: Film, Photography, Writing, and Art
Trails Magazine Issue 8 Ptarmigan Traverse Photo Feature
The Radavist: Halfway to Oaxaca
